A little bit about Mr. Ponce

Mr. Manuel Fernando Ponce is the Spanish teacher at Donovan Catholic School. He is in charge of SPAN I, SPAN II, the AP Spanish courses for high school and the Social Studies Georgia course for Middle School. Mr. Ponce obtained his bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the University of Georgia. Later, he completed a master’s degree in Public Program management from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and, more recently, a second master’s degree in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia.

Mr. Ponce served honorably in the U.S. Army, both enlisted and as an Artillery Officer for a total of seven years. He has been teaching languages since 2019; Mr. Ponce is fluent in Portuguese which happens to be his favorite language. Mr. Ponce has been working with young men and women since 2010. First, as a catechist at Saint Maurice Chapel in Fort Benning, Georgia, then as a volunteer mentor for the Muscogee County juvenile court, and more recently, as a high school teacher in Peru and the United States.
 
Mr. Ponce has a wife and five children. Mr. Ponce strives to keep Christ in the center of his personal and professional endeavors.
