Program Overview

Donovan Catholic School's College Guidance program is a comprehensive, six-year college preparation experience that begins in seventh grade and continues through senior year. Guided by a dedicated team of advisors assigned to each grade level, the program is designed to ensure that every Donovan student and family has the knowledge, resources, and support needed to make informed decisions about higher education.

The program takes a proactive approach to college planning, providing guidance across all stages of the process — from building a strong academic foundation in the middle school years to navigating applications, financial aid, and enrollment decisions as a senior. Students receive individualized support in key areas including college selection, admissions testing strategy, dual enrollment opportunities, scholarship research, and financial aid planning.

Donovan's College Guidance program utilizes Scoir, a college planning platform that connects students directly with college resources and allows advisors to track and support each student's progress throughout their academic journey. Families are also supported through our College Guidance website, which houses curated resources including scholarship reference guides, upcoming deadlines and campus visit opportunities, admissions event information, and links to financial aid tools.

SCOIR--College and Career Readiness Platform

Scoir is the college and career planning platform used by Donovan Catholic School to support students as they explore postsecondary options and plan for life after graduation. Scoir helps students identify interests and strengths, explore potential career pathways, and connect those interests to colleges, academic programs, and future opportunities.

Students invite their parents or guardians to join Scoir, creating a shared, collaborative planning experience. Through this interactive platform, families can view the colleges and programs their student is exploring, track application progress and deadlines, and stay informed throughout the process. Counselors use Scoir to guide students thoughtfully, monitor progress, and communicate with both students and families, ensuring clarity and support at each stage of college and career planning.

Scoir serves as a central tool in Donovan’s commitment to helping students make intentional, well-informed decisions—encouraging meaningful conversations at home while supporting each student’s individual goals and aspirations.

Parent Overview

Scoir makes it easy to be a part of your students college planning and admissions process. You can:

- see which schools your student has been researching once they adds you--make sure they add you!
- suggests schools you feel are a good fit for your student
- see the sticker price as well as the average price for students with similar financial backgrounds. For private schools this can be a big difference!
- track where your student is in the college admissions process. Interested, applying, applied, and admissions decision--you can keep up with your student throughout the college planning and admissions process.
