Works of Mercy Service Requirement

Works of Mercy Service Requirement

Donovan embraces the principles of Catholic stewardship and the call to be responsible caretakers of God's creation. Stewardship is the recognition that everything we have, including our talents, resources, and environment, is a gift from God. As a Catholic institution, we strive to cultivate a spirit of stewardship among our students, nurturing their ability to contribute positively to the world. Our progressive stewardship policy is designed to promote personal growth, leadership, and an understanding of the collective nature of God’s creation throughout a student's journey at our school. The Works of Mercy Service requirement will be graded separately from any class with students earning either a pass or fail and will be reflected on students’ transcripts.

By following this progressive stewardship policy, we aim to cultivate a generation of Donovan graduates who are committed to living out their faith through responsible stewardship. Our students will develop a deep understanding of their interconnectedness with the world and their responsibility to protect and enhance the gifts entrusted to them. Through collaborative and individual projects, we strive to empower our students to become compassionate leaders and advocates for positive change in their communities and beyond. While the above policy is the minimum, one student per grade will earn special recognition for going above and beyond the basic requirements as a Volunteer of the Year recognized on Honors Day.
